Vehicle Description 1958 Ford Ranchero This Ranchero was originally manufactured in San Jose, CA, not far from where the owner was from when he moved out to CT close to 20 years ago.
The car came from the factory with a 352 and was shod in the same colors it wears today, Bali Bronze and Colonial White.
However, not much remains the same on her today.
When the current owner purchased her roughly ten years ago from a popular southern classic car dealership, it wasn't running very well and needed some attention to detail.
Repainted about 4 years before he bought the car, the Bronze and White still looked good, so he didn't touch the paint, aside from having it cleaned up, detailed.
However, he made some rather big changes elsewhere.
One of the first was the installation of a Jasper Engines 390 crate engine, with an Edelbrock 4 bbl manifold and Holley carb.
He added power steering and power brakes and discs all around, took a good Ford C6 and had TCI beef it up and dropped that in behind the big 390.
It is estimated that this engine puts out about 400 HP and 450 lb ft of torque.
It exhausts it's spent gasses through cast iron manifolds and a true dual exhaust system.
It has just 2500 miles on it.
The odometer reads 72001 however, we know that is incorrect, so we aren't sure of the actual miles on the body.
Behind the transmission he installed a refurbed Ford 9 rear equipped with 3:
50 gears.
Disc brakes were also added, as previously mentioned.
In front of the engine he installed a new 4 core radiator and electric fans.
He also added a new distributor, alternator, and starter.
Then he went after the interior.
The seat was in great shape so he left that as is, but he pulled the dash and had it blasted and painted in Colonial White, added gauges for the important bits such as temp, oil pressure and amperage; added a new carpet set and B&M shifter; electric wipers (no longer vacuum); all the flat glass came out and was replaced; the interior chrome was replaced and the front vent valance was also replaced with a chrome unit; he finished it off by adding a tilt wheel and a very nice wooden steering wheel.
Although not concours quality, this Ranchero could do well at any local car show.
There are a few small chips in the paint that have been touched up and the bed has a few scrapes.
.
but, it is, well, a truck after-all The car fires up instantly, runs very well and sounds phenomenal.
The power steering, power brakes and the POWER of the 390 make it a dream to drive.
With just a few too many projects kicking around, it was decided that it was time to let this beauty go.
$25,900 is the asking price.
